In addition to his position as a Principal at Venue Strategies, Steve Hyman is also the Executive Director of The Stranahan Theatre and Great Hall in Toledo, Ohio. His professional career encompasses a unique mix of skills related to multi-purpose event center development and management; including local government operations, land use planning, economic development, real estate development, and facility management at both functional and executive director levels. Steve has amassed exceptional depth in the operation of multi-purpose venues across a wide range of sports, entertainment, consumer show, meeting, and special event formats. He possesses particular expertise in event creation, booking, and production, and has consulted on venue operations at major arenas, stadiums, theaters, and event centers throughout the United States.
Earlier in his career, Steve was City Planner for, and the Economic Development Director of, the City of Moline, Illinois before transitioning into multi-purpose venue development and management. He has overseen the design, construction, grand opening, staffing and day-to-day management of the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and the MARK of the Quad Cities (now known as the I Wireless Center) in Moline, Illinois, where he was one of two people responsible for the founding the Quad City Sports Commission and served as the Chairman of the Quad City Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Hyman also served as the Executive Director of the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and The Plex in Syracuse, New York.
Mr. Hyman holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He is a member of the International Association of Venue Managers.
